The book of Revelation has captivated many people down through the ages. Today is no different. And, with different "prophecies" being made of the end of the world being put forth, it is especially important for us to know and understand what God has to say about it.
We have started to study Revelation using the inductive study method. This method is essentially the historical grammatical approach to Biblical interpretation. Our intent is to discover authorial intent. This means we try to understand what the original author was communicating when he wrote the passage. Our goal is to understand what the Holy Spirit inspired John to write when he penned the letter about 2,000 years ago.
So often when we hear the word Revelation we automatically think about the end times. While it does deal with the end of the world, that is not its main focus. The book of Revelation goes beyond this and in Revelation chapter 1 verse 1 we find that the book of Revelation's true focus is about the revealing of the Person of Jesus Christ as He relates to what would soon take place.
Jesus is actively ushering in the future. This truth to the believer should bring both joy and comfort. This joy is what John had in mind when he wrote in chapter 1 verse 3 that the person who reads, hears and heeds the things written in this prophecy would be blessed.
For those who are participating in this study, we won't be meeting for June, July and August. But that does not mean to stop studying. Please continue to highlight the key words in Chapter 2 and start making your lists that answer the 5 W's and the H.
All for His Glory.
